"Climatic Changes" has permeated the agenda of international financial institutions, particularly the World Bank. The Office, increasingly, has sought to support the sustainable development and poverty reduction, to the extent that climate risks and opportunities arise correlated economic, and use their potential to facilitate global action and interaction between countries.
In 2008, the Department followed the discussion document "Strategic Framework on Climate Change and Development for the World Bank Group," which establishes the Bank's operational strategy in this segment. Moreover, in coordination with the Brazilian representation in Washington, accompanied the creation, in July, the two Funds Climate Bank - the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) - that aim to address the challenges of adapting and climate change mitigation, respectively. In late 2008, Brazil was chosen as a member of the CTF Trust Fund Committee.
